An Ohio lawmaker will introduce a bill Wednesday naming September "Safe Driving Awareness Month" in honor of Maria Tiberi, daughter of 10TV sports anchor Dom Tiberi, and others who have died on Ohio roads.
Dom Tiberi is scheduled to speak with lawmakers about his daughter and the dangers of distracted driving.
"I'm honored to be there not only to represent my daughter Maria, but all of the victims who have lost their lives," said Tiberi.
Dom and his wife, Terri, are working to spread awareness among teens and young adults through Maria's Message.
"We've got to do something," said Tiberi. "It's the number one killer of those 8-24 and I don't want to see any other kids lose their lives. I don't want to see any parents go through this."
Former Ohio State University football coaches John Cooper and Earl Bruce will also speak to lawmakers.
Senators will also read letters of support from Urban Meyer, Thad and Barbara Matta, Jack Nicklaus, Archie Griffin, Gene Smith and Todd Richards.
