A thief who stole donations destined for a girl with a rare form a cancer inspired a Central Ohio community to give even more.

Taylor Sanders, Co-Owner of Sweet Bliss Bakery in Pataskala, put out a donation box at her store to collect money for Kacie Solages.

The former Licking Heights student is battling a rare form of abdominal cancer.

On the last day of the collection, Taylor opened the box and her heart dropped.

She said the box that should have had $70 dollars inside of it, only had $1.25.

"We have so much faith in Pataskala we can't imagine anyone doing something like this especially for a little girl that has cancer," Taylor said.

"It was just really hard because it's a little girl, I mean, don't steal from someone who needs something like that," she said.

When word spread that the money had been stolen, people began to donate more.

"I would say we raised $150 to $200," Taylor said.

The community also sold tickets for a spaghetti dinner Sunday night and local businesses donated items for an auction.
