Police say a man has been shot following an early morning confrontation with police.
Officers were dispatched early Saturday morning to the area of East Livingston Avenue and South Yearling Road on the city’s east side following reports of a suspicious man. A caller said the suspect had approached her and a friend and appeared to have a weapon.
Police were dispatched to the area and located the suspect, who fled the scene upon seeing police. Officers chased the suspect and opened fire following a confrontation. The man, 23-yr-old Timothy Slaughter, was wounded in the leg. He was taken to Grant Medical Center in serious condition.
Slaughter has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Meantime, police say two knives were recovered at the scene and no other injuries have been reported.
