Oil Leak From Pipeline Found In Southwest Ohio Nature Preserve

Fire officials say oil leaked into a southwest Ohio nature preserve from a crude oil pipeline.

Capt. Steve Conn of the Colerain Township Fire Department says residents in the area reported they had smelled petroleum for several days before the leak was detected Monday night.

Conn tells the Cincinnati Enquirer that the leak into Glen Oak Nature Preserve in Colerain Township has been contained.

Hazmat crews and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were on scene.

Conn says the oil leaked into a creek and collected in a marshy wetland, and it's not clear yet if it spilled into ponds or the Great Miami River.
