The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says a body has been recovered at Prairie Oaks Metro Park that is believed to be a missing kayaker.

Emergency crews were called to the lake on Saturday after Kyle Miller, 21, and a friend overturned in kayaks in the lake.

Austin Gifford, 19, was able to be rescued from the water. Miller was not located.

Early Sunday afternoon, emergency teams located a body that was believed to be Miller’s.

An Otterbein University Spokesperson said Gifford and Miller were both students at Otterbein University, and they were both from Hilliard.

Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott said the two went in the water to rescue a dog. Officials say they recovered the body of a black poodle on Saturday.
