The Columbus Division of Fire opened its doors in its search for the next class of firefighters.
The division held the first of two expos on Saturday at its training facilities on Parsons avenue.
New recruits had a chance to meet the team and see for themselves what it's like to be a firefighter.
Many of the hands-on exercises tested mental endurance, physical strength, and courage.
They are the type of characteristics needed to become a Columbus firefighter.
"The biggest challenge about being a firefighter is having the self discipline to learn all the things that are required to be a qualified firefighters. I think when they leave here, they will be better educated about what it takes to be a firefighter," said Director of Public Safety Mitchell Brown.
Another Columbus fire expo will be held on March 15.
