NE Ohio Man Acquitted In Fatal Shooting Of Neighbor Over Electricity Theft

A jury in northeast Ohio has acquitted a 22-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a neighbor over the theft of electricity.

The (Youngstown) Vindicator reports that Michael Paige was found not guilty of aggravated murder by a Mahoning County jury on Monday. The jury couldn't reach verdicts on lesser offenses of murder, voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

Paige was charged in the shooting of 31-year-old Munir Blake in 2012. Blake was a neighbor of Paige's cousin in a Youngstown duplex, and had accused of her of stealing electricity from his unit.

Police said Paige shot Blake during a confrontation, but Paige claimed it was his cousin.

A prosecutor said he expects that the case will be retried. One of Paige's attorneys declined to comment.
