Suspect In Critical Condition After Officers Open Fire

Columbus police were investigating why two officers opened fire in east Columbus.

It happened around 10:45 Thursday night on Refugee Road, east of I-270.

Officers were patrolling the area when they saw a man standing in the road pointing a gun at passing cars.

When the suspect spotted the cruiser, he ran toward a nearby apartment complex.

Ofifcers chased the suspect on foot.

Police say both officers shot multiple times, hitting the suspect.

He was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

A shotgun was also recovered at the scene.

That man's name has not been released.
