Police were investigating a man's claim that he was shot in the face in east Columbus.
The man told police he was shot on south Waverly Street around 3:30 Thursday morning.
He was then found on Elizabeth Avenue and taken to Grant Medical Center.
The victim was treated for an injury to his cheek, but after further investigation officers said they're not convinced the injury was caused by a bullet.
Police were questioning witnesses in the area.
No arrests have been made.
