Marion police charged a man after they say he accidentally fired his shotgun into his apartment floor Thursday.

The buck shot from the shotgun went through the ceiling and struck two women attending a prayer service.

Police responded to the home in the 400 block of South Prospect Street around 4:30 p.m.

One woman suffered injuries to her left check, right arm and right leg. The second victim had a wound on her right leg. A Marion City Fire Department squad took both women to Marion General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said 59-year-old Terry Thacker accidentally discharged his shotgun into the floor. He was not arrested, but he was charged with negligent assault.
