Firefighters Battle Fire At Newark Plant

Firefighters battled a roof fire at a the Owens Corning Plant on Case Avenue in Newark Wednesday morning.

Firefighters issued a second alarm around 3:00 a.m. because of the size of the building.
 
Heath, Newark Township, Granville, and Madison Township fire departments were all dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters said they were quickly able to put the fire out. The Newark Fire Chief said the fire started inside a machine. The chief said there was no structural damage to the building.

The Chief said one firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire, but will make a full recovery.
 
This isn't the first fire at the Owens Corning Plant. Large bulk bails of fiberglass insulation caught fire inside one of the warehouses on December 28th, 2013. There were also small fires inside the plant in January, August, and November of 2013.
