Bellefontaine Police say they've made an arrest in the hit and run death of a U.S. Marine.
Police just arrested Holly Fowler in connection with the case.
Police say Monica Plank, 34, of Stafford, Virginia, was killed in the early morning of Feb. 16, when she was hit by a vehicle in Bellefontaine that didn't stop.
She was struck early Sunday morning while walking in the street, after leaving a local restaurant and bar. She died several hours later at the hospital.
Police said Plank was walking north on South Main Street, in the outside lane of traffic, because of snow and ice-covered sidewalks.
Her husband, Chris Plank, a native of the area who is also a U.S. Marine sergeant, was about 100 to 200 feet behind her.
A woman driving by the crash scene dialed 911 and called police to help.
Bellefontaine Police Chief Brandon Standley told 10TV that when his officers arrived, Chris Plank was giving his wife, Monica, CPR.
Standley said Chris Plank was following his wife along South Main Street, after they got into a dispute at a local restaurant and bar.
After the crash, Chief Standley said no one, not even Chris Plank, was able to describe the car or truck that hit his wife.
"As tragic as this was, the victim's husband was unable to supply us, even though he was a few feet behind her, he was more focused on her than the getaway vehicle," said Standley.
Now a husband is without a wife, and police say her three children are now without a mother.
"So there's a lot of loss and overall just a sad and tragic situation," said Standley.
Officers combed the crash scene for more evidence in the light of day on Monday.
