An Ohio University assistant professor has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Authorities arrested Amol T. Kharabe at his Dublin home Monday night.

Officers with Dublin's Community Impact Unit picked up Kharabe on an arrest warrant issued out of Athens.

The 41 year old is an assistant professor employed at Ohio University's School of Business.

Athens police tell 10TV that the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force contacted Ohio University Police back in the fall.

The unit noticed an account on the University's network was accessing child pornography, according to police. Detectives with Athens Police were contacted and in late September executed a search warrant on Kharabe's Richland Avenue apartment in Athens.

"It was early, 6-7 a.m., my mom said she had just witnessed seven cops lined up at the door pounding on the door saying open up we have a search warrant," said neighbor T.J. Hosa.

Police seized several devices from the apartment and submitted them the BCI's Crime Lab.

Kharabe works mid-week at OU, but has a home in Dublin where he lives with his wife and children.

The case remains under investigation.

Ohio University released the following statement:

"Ohio University is aware of the arrest. The faculty member has been placed on paid administrative leave."
