Lane Avenue Opens Following Water Main Repair

UPDATED: Monday February 10, 2014 12:20 PM

Crews closed Lane Avenue between Chester and North Star Roads in Upper Arlington because of a water main break Monday morning.

The road was shut down around 6:30 Monday morning. Officials said the road re-opened around noon.

The break happened on Westmont Boulevard and the water spilled onto Lane Avenue.

It left many of parking spots that are usually filled in the Shoppes at Lane Avenue eerily empty.

Bruegger's Bagels employees said they missed the usual commuter traffic.

"Right away we were slower than normal. A lot of our regulars couldn't come in today. A lot of customers who have made their way in said they had to travel through the neighborhoods and into the side entrances, so it's definitely been a little slower than normal," said Brittani Hoffman.

Chopper 10 flew above the scene shortly before the road was closed. Authorities say the road became too icy for people to safely drive.
