Ohio Casino Revenue Decreases Again For January

UPDATED: Saturday February 8, 2014 8:08 AM

Regulators say total revenue from Ohio's four voter-approved casinos dropped again in January, when two temporarily closed because of brutally cold winter weather.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported Friday that revenue totaled just under $59.7 million, down from $63.2 million in a lackluster December.

Cincinnati's casino, which is the newest, was the only one of the four to post a monthly revenue increase. Its revenue rose from $14.2 million in December to about $16.2 million last month.

Revenue at the remaining casinos in Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo was down compared with the previous month and the same time last year.

The steepest month-to-month drop was at the Toledo casino, which closed twice for a total of nearly 52 hours. Cleveland's casino closed for 37 hours because of the weather.
