Franklin County sheriff’s detectives are searching for a murder victim’s car. Detectives said they are hoping the vehicle will lead them to answers in a Dublin-area murder.
The husband, and father, was found Tuesday night lying near the entrance of a mobile home park off Cosgray Road.
The victim’s widow, Wendy Devitt, said her husband left for work around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. At approximately 7:40 p.m. the same night, a person driving through the Hayden Heights Mobile Home Park called 911.
The caller told dispatchers that they saw a body lying underneath a truck. When detectives arrived, they found Paul Devitt. Detectives said he had been shot, and his wallet, phone and vehicle had been stolen.
Wendy Devitt said, “I’m sure he got out of the car to open the door for whoever it was, and what happened then, I don't know.”
Wendy said four years ago her husband started Hilliard Hometown Taxi. The Columbus Dispatch even featured his business for a story. She said recently the father of two started working for another company that allows users to book a ride online or using a mobile app.
She said that is what he was doing when he was killed, “Whoever it is, whatever their motivation, it has now ruined our life and my daughter's. We will never get over it, and if it was just for a car you could have had it.”
Here is a description of Devitt’s vehicle: 2007 black Chevrolet Suburban OH license plate BLKCAR1
