JPMorgan Chase is paying almost $1.5 million to settle a sex-based harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The agency says the company will also revamp all of its call data retention procedures.
According to the lawsuit, the company maintained a sexually hostile work environment toward its female bankers assigned to its Polaris Park facility.
The EEOC says females at JPMorgan Chase who did not participate the sexist atmosphere were deprived of lucrative sales calls and training opportunities.
The $1.45 million will be split among 16 female mortgage bankers who worked at the facility.
The company's new call data retention system will be created so that assignments of sales calls can be accessed and analyzed.
JPMorgan Chase released the following statement:
“We fully agree with the EEOC that harassment and discrimination have no place in the work environment. The alleged behavior dates back more than four years.”
