Around 1,000 people in Crooksville lost heat Wednesday due to an issue with Columbia Gas.
According to the company, the disruption occurred due to a mechanical failure Wednesday morning.
The company, along with the Red Cross, set up a warming shelter at the New Lexington High School.
As of 10:45 p.m., Columbia Gas restored heat to 85% of the impacted homes.
More than 80 crews in Crooksville were working on service restoration.
Officials were also going door-to-door to check on residents. They asked people without heat to leave porch or outside lights on so Columbia Gas crews would visit their home.
