Father Says 11-Year Accidentally Shot Sibling

Columbus Police were investigating after a child was shot inside of a home in east Columbus.

Officers said the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the hallway of a home on Studer Avenue.

A 10-year-old boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The boy's father told 10TV that his son was shot in the head but is expected to recover.

Ivie Sams said his 11-year-old son admitted to accidentally shooting his 10-year-old.

Sams said the boys told him they found the gun Monday in an alley.

Police said there was at least one other child inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Officers were questioning possible witnesses. Police could not confirm the details of the shooting that the boy's father told 10TV.
