Teen Accused Of Downloading Child Porn On School Computer

Pickerington Local School District officials have uncovered child pornography that was downloaded on a school computer.

A 14-year-old Lakeview Junior High School student is in custody, charged with a felony count of pandering obscenity, among other charges.

The case has now been turned over to the Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office Juvenile Division for prosecution.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, the school's assistant principal said the student was in class on a school computer, looking up child pornography.

Investigators said another student witnessed the suspect doing this, and reported it to a teacher.

They said the student denied accessing child pornography, but was taken into custody on an unrelated probation violation.

The 14-year-old suspect is currently being held at the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center in Lancaster.

Investigators said the teacher was able to find the sites the student had searched using the computer history.

The student was able to bypass Pickerington Local School District's internet filter by using specific key words in a search engine, investigators said.

In addition to a felony pandering obscenity charge, the student also faces charges for displaying matter harmful to a juvenile and unauthorized use of property.

The incident reportedly happened during "free time" while the student was in class, though it is unclear how many other students may have witnessed what he was viewing.

10TV made repeated attempts to reach the Pickerington Local School District for clarification, but we have not received any comment on the incident.
