Man Charged With Making Meth In Home With Children

UPDATED: Wednesday January 15, 2014 6:04 AM

Mansfield Police arrested a man they accused of making meth while children were present inside his home.

After getting permission to enter the Lexington Avenue apartment, officers found a meth lab in the attic.

The building was evacuated until the Clandestine Lab Response Team could neutralize the ingredients.

Police charged Nicholas McHugh with manufacturing drugs.

Those charges were bumped up to a felony because two small children were present at the time.

Detectives say a neighbor’s complaint led to McHugh’s arrest.

The children were taken to Richland County Children’s Services.
