Protect Yourself Against Hypothermia

An arctic cold front moving across the state Monday is producing dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills.

Hypothermia occurs when too much heat escapes from your body.

Common signs of hypothermia include:
-    Shivering
-    Slurred speech
-    Slowed breathing rates
-    Skin becomes cold and pale

Things to remember to avoid hypothermia include:

-    Wear protective clothing, including hats and gloves
-    Avoid activities that would cause you to sweat
-    Layer your clothing, and make sure it can breath
-    Stay dry
