Licking County sheriff's deputies arrested one man after they say he fled from Newark Police, crashed into a light pole and discovered drugs in his car.

Newark Police first responded to a situation involving Brandon Clemmons at 224 Deo Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they said Clemmons took off in a car and crashed into an AEP pole in an alley off of VanTassel Avenue.

Licking County Sheriff's Deputies were then called in once it was discovered the original address was actually in their territory.

Upon arrest, deputies said they found a large amount of marijuana in Clemmons' vehicle.

He was booked into the Licking County Justice Center on the charge of weapons while intoxicated and improper handling of a firearm. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
