Firefighters Investigating Suspicious Fire At Vacant House

Firefighters were called to the scene of a suspicious fire in east Columbus just after midnight Tuesday.

The fire started on the first floor of a vacant home just south of Newton Street near Ohio Avenue in an alley.

The fire chief told 10TV the damage is estimated at $20,000.

Investigators said they believe someone seeking shelter from the cold may have sparked the fire.

No one was injured.
