UPDATED: Friday December 20, 2013 7:13 PM

The city of Whitehall Division of Fire is developing a bed bug prevention plan after several of the insects were discovered at a fire house.

The insects were found in two bunk areas Friday morning.

Orkin was called to inspect the building, located at 390 South Yearling Road.

As part of the prevention plan, firefighters may be required to wear plastic boot covers when entering residents' homes. The firefighters will also decontaninate shoes and lower-body clothing after high risk runs.

Officials say medical kits may also be bagged to prevent the spread of bed bugs.
