Columbus Police Warn About Dangers Of Online Transactions After Triple Shooting

UPDATED: Monday December 16, 2013 7:16 AM

The search continues for at least one suspect in a triple shooting investigation on the city's east side.

Three people were shot including a couple who has a seven month old baby together. Although the two are expected to survive their injuries, both remain hospitalized and their parents are terrified that the gunman remains on the loose.

Columbus Police responded to 953 Oakwood Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday night to reports of multiple gunshots, and three teenage victims.

The father of one of those victim did not want to be identified, but did want to speak with 10TV about why his 18-year-old daughter Sabrina was on the east side Saturday night.

He said his daughter had planned to buy a pair of discounted Air Jordan's from a stranger she had a conversation with on the internet.

"If you see something on the internet and you can't believe how they have it worded, don't believe it, it could be a set up," said her father.

He says the man who was selling the shoes to his daughter, stole her money and then shot her in the leg.

Simone asked 10TV to only use her first name and says her 19 year-old son Brien was also shot and injured during the robbery.

Columbus Police say another 18-year-old female was also shot and drove herself to OSU East with non life threatening injuries. Detectives believe there was an exchange of gunfire and are looking for other people involved, including the person who shot Sabrina and Brien.

"They both could have been killed, God interviened and I thank god that we have praying family members," said Simone.

Columbus Police say this should serve as a reminder to be careful when arranging online transactions.
