Woman Accused Of Driving School Bus While Drunk Resigns

UPDATED: Wednesday December 4, 2013 11:58 AM

A Columbus City Schools bus driver accused of being drunk while taking kids home from school has resigned.

Tia Denton, 52, had a blood alcohol level was almost three-times the legal limit when she was stopped for being off her route.

Denton was two hours late to drop kids off at Southwood Elementary School on November 25.

According to court records 10TV obtained, a bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey was also found on the bus.

Police say Denton was released to her husband, instead of being taken to jail, because she was so intoxicated.

School officials had planned a hearing for Wednesday morning, but it was called off after Denton handed in her hand-written resignation note.
