More Veterans Asking For Financial Help In Franklin County

The Franklin County Veteran Service Commission says it is seeing a big increase in requests for financial assistance.

Food assistance requests are up 30 percent since the beginning of the year. Requests for help paying for utilities are up 11 percent, and car repair assistance requests are up 108 percent.

The VSC provides advice and assistance to veterans, active duty members of the Armed Forces and their dependents. Its services including help obtaining benefits and entitlements from federal, state, and local agencies. It also provides immediate financial assistance when necessary.
