The mother of a Columbus woman who was murdered on Friday is speaking with 10TV.
Yvette Thierry says she knew something was wrong Friday afternoon when her daughter didn't come home.
"I started calling the hospitals and nobody had seen her, and they didn't have any car accidents. I knew, I knew something was terribly wrong," said Thierry of her daughter’s disappearance.
Callie Van Meter, 22 was found dead inside an apartment at 3295 Sullivant Avenue on Friday night.
Detectives are not revealing many details but have determined that Van Meter was murdered.
Her mother says it's an unimaginable crime, especially since her daughter has a one-year-old daughter.
She says she doesn't know why Van Meter was at the Sullivant Avenue apartment on Friday but suspects her daughter’s compassion led her there.
"She was just a loving caring person, everybody loved her, don't trust anybody is all I can say," said Thierry.
She says her daughter was a single mother who worked tirelessly to raise her daughter and says she can't imagine who would take her life.
Investigators are working to identify a suspect.
Thierry is on disability and is now going to raise her granddaughter.
"I'm going to give it all I've got and more, everything she needs, love and comfort I'll be right there for her," said Thierry of her granddaughter.
