UPDATED: Friday November 1, 2013 12:35 PM

Storms rolling through Ohio overnight toppled trees and left thousands of homes without power.

Authorities said the weather that moved through past midnight brought 50 mph winds in some areas that downed trees limbs and power lines.

Outages were reported in the Cleveland area and throughout central Ohio, where some homes were damaged from the wind.

Thousands of customers were still without power early Friday.

A funnel cloud was reported in Hardin County in northwest Ohio but it hadn't been confirmed.

Television reports showed a church there damaged when a tower toppled onto it, reportedly by a tornado. Winds damaged dozens of mobile homes at a trailer park on the south side of Columbus.

Some communities had postponed trick or treat Thursday because of the threat of bad weather.
