Two people were killed during a S.W.A.T. situation at a Huron County Store.

The City of Willard's Twitter account said the situation started around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after a 911 call saying someone with a gun appeared to be robbing the Family Dollar at 403 Walton Street West in Willard.

The Mansfield News Journal reports when police arrived, they found 19-year-old Shawn Schuett of Mansfield had taken two people hostage inside the store.

City officials said Schuett had a rifle and had barricaded the front doors of the store. He was holding two female Family Dollar employees hostage.

The City of Willard's Twitter reported that the Mansfield Police Department, Ontario Police Department, the State Highway Patrol and the Huron County Sheriff responded with their rapid response teams.

City officials said S.W.A.T. teams surrounded the store for about two hours, trying to make contact with Schuett.

Around 8:00 p.m., one of the hostages was able to escape through the rear of the store. She told officers that the gunman had shot the other hostage.

Willard officials said S.W.A.T. teams broke the front windows of the building and entered the store. Inside they found Schuett dead from a gunshot wound and the other hostage seriously injured.

The wounded hostage was taken to Mercy Willard Hospital then Life-flighted for advanced care. City officials said she died while being transported.

The incident was still under investigation.
