Medics rushed a toddler to Nationwide Children's Hospital after he was struck by a car during the town of Marengo's annual trick-or-treat celebration Wednesday night.
The family of the toddler said their 22-month-old son had just changed out of his costume and was running around the front yard, when a car backed over him around 7:30 p.m.
Neighbors said they had to pound on the driver's windows to get her to stop.
A sergeant with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the driver claimed she did not know she hit a child.
Troopers continue to investigate. At this point, no charges have been filed.
