A grand jury indicted an Athens county man for the murder of his father.

Paul J. Roberts, Jr. faces a list of charges, including murder, theft, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.

Last Monday, police found 63-year-old Paul Roberts Sr.’s body in a well under the porch of his Athens County home.

In a jailhouse interview with 10TV, his son confessed to the crime.
“I did. I did. It was an argument that turned into a fight that got out of control,” he said.

Police say Roberts also stole his father's 2004 Jeep Liberty, John Deere riding lawnmower, and a credit card.

His wife, Rhonda Degarmore, is jailed on a probation violation, and her brother Robert is charged with using Roberts Sr.'s credit card after his death.
