A new southwest Ohio racino has moved up its opening date to December in hopes of capitalizing on the holiday season and drawing visitors' attention before a second racino opens in the region.
The Dayton Daily News reports Miami Valley Gaming and Racing plans a Dec. 12 opening for the racino in Lebanon, just east of Interstate 75 in Warren County. The site featuring horse racing and slots-like video terminals originally was scheduled to open in early 2014.
The company's president says the goal is to build interest in the Lebanon facility before another racino opens further north in Dayton sometime next year.
New gambling rules allow horse tracks to add slots-like gambling. Some are renovating to add the video terminal games, while others are building new entirely tracks.
