UPDATED: Thursday October 10, 2013 11:32 AM

The minimum wage for non-tipped employees will increase to $7.95 per hour and to $3.98 per hour for tipped employees as of the first of the year.

The wage increase will apply to employees of businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $292,000.

The current 2013 minimum wage is $7.85 per hour for non-tipped employees and $3.93 per hour for tipped employees, plus tips.

The 2014 increase is due to a constitutional amendment passed by Ohio voters in Nov. 2006. The amendment says that the minimum wage will increase on Jan. 1 of each year based on the rate of inflation.
