Thornville Mother’s Boyfriend Considered ‘Person Of Interest’ In Her Death

UPDATED: Wednesday October 9, 2013 9:07 PM

Bureau of Criminal Investigation officers were back on the scene of a suspicious Fairfield County death Wednesday evening.

Denise Haught, 34, was found dead in the 13000 block of Shell Beach Road near Thornville early Wednesday.

Officials said that she was a mother of five children. A 2 year old and 4 year old were home when she was found dead.

According to Sheriff Dave Phalen, a man called 911 saying that he found the woman unresponsive in the home where she lived for about a month.

"These kids' mom ain't movin' and her old man was there at like 3 o'clock this morning, her ex old man, and they got into an argument," said a caller to 911.

Officials confirmed that the woman’s boyfriend is being considered a person of interest in her death.

A tow truck removed a red car parked in the front of the home, where she was found dead. BCI was processing the vehicle.

“She was a great and wonderful woman, and she always did what she thought was best for her kids,” said Cyrus Haught, the victim’s son.

Officials have not released the cause of death.

“Words can’t express, but God knows the truth in all of this, and we’re trusting the lord,” said Donna Haught, the victim’s mother.
