Jacque Barkhurst says she's lived along a stretch of Hyatts Road for nearly two decades and never once was a victim of a crime.
That was until Tuesday.
Barkhurst and others were victims of a crime spree that stretched a mile along the Concord-Liberty Township line.
"We came out to go to work yesterday morning, and my son came out and said someone had gotten into our truck, and we started looking at all the vehicles and they all had been accessed," said Barkhurst.
In fact, deputies say sometime early Tuesday, thieves stole mostly change and cash from more than a half dozen vehicles on Hyatts, South Section Line and Butts roads.
Two vehicles were also reported stolen on Butts and South Section Line.
Deputies say because the houses in this area are so far apart, it's possible the suspect stole the vehicles to get from one house to the other.
At least one of the cars was recovered in the area.
But the thief is still on the run, and that's why residents like Burkhurst say they're making sure their property is secure.
"We are locking them now. Everyone is locking their vehicles so hopefully we won't have an issue again," she added.
Because after nearly two decades without crime, she says she's not eager to become a victim again.
