A man and woman will face jail time for locking their child in a bed.
The Lancaster Eagle Gazette reported that Russell D. Terry, 34, and Jamie M. Curnell, 32, were each sentenced to 78 months in prison on Monday after pleading guilty in August to three counts each of child endangering.
All but 180 days were suspended in lieu of five years of community control.
They were originally charged with 10 counts of kidnapping, 10 counts of child endangering and 10 counts of abduction.
Deputies said that the pen contraption, located at a home on Lancaster-Thornville Road in Pleasantville, was used to restrain a 4-year-old girl in her bed. The steel pen had an access door that had a screen door hook and a sliding deadbolt, deputies said. Investigators said that the couple admitted that their 4-year-old daughter slept in the cage contraption for the past three months. The 4-year-old and an 8-month-old child were placed with family members.
