A driver is hospitalized after crashing into and killing two horses along U.S. Route 40 early Monday.
According to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, a Honda Civic traveling west on U.S. 40 struck the animals, which were in the
roadway, shortly before 5 a.m. Monday.
Officials said the animals had escaped from a nearby farm. Officials continued to search for other animals that got loose on Monday morning.
U.S. 40 near Tollgate Road was closed for hours after the crash.
The driver of the car was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver was not cited in the crash, but the animals’ owner could be charged, officials said.
