The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction will use two national corrections experts to review the state's prison suicides.
The recent suicides of two high-profile inmates (Ariel Castro and Billy Slagle) prompted the examination.
Fred Cohen, Esq. and Lindsay Hayes will review Ohio prison suicides over the past two years.
They are expected to look at DRC policies and procedures that relate to suicide prevention.
Cohen is Professor of Law and Criminal Justice Emeritus at the School of Criminal Justice at the State University of New York at Albany. Hayes is Project Director of the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives.
They are expected to present a public report on or before Nov. 15.
