A central Ohio public-private partnership says it is well on its way toward its jobs goal.
Columbus 2020 set a goal in 2010 to create 150,000 new jobs by the year 2020.
Officials from the organization said on Tuesday that the 11-county region has seen 58,000 new positions in the three years since announcing that goal.
They said most of the growth is in the automotive, retail, logistics and information-technology industries.
"I would say it's exceeding expectations even we had about the plan when we started, because it was a very ambitious goal, and we should take time along the journey to take a deep breath and applaud, and then keep moving," said Kenny McDonald, the CEO of Columbus2020.
McDonald said that besides job growth, per capita income across the region has increased about five percent in the past three years, along with $3.5 billion in new capital investments.
