Athens County Man Accused Of Shooting Sleeping Wife Could Receive 4 Years In Prison

A 60-year-old man changed his plea just before he was scheduled to go on trial for shooting his wife as she slept.

Jerry Frank Lewis pleaded guilty to felonious assault, theft and forgery in connection the shooting of his wife, Connie Lewis.

He's scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 27.

Prosecutors have recommended four years behind bars.

Connie Lewis survived the shooting and said she wanted "closure in the case."
