Delaware County Health Officials are offering appointments to have your seat checked Tuesday, September 17th at the Liberty Township Fire Station from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
There are also appointments available on Saturday, September 21st at the AAA on Sunbury Road in Delaware.
Health officials in Delaware County said 88% of the car seats they checked so this year were installed incorrectly.
A car seat technician said to properly latch the seat into a vehicle, you must make sure the harness straps are tight enough and that the seat is in the correct position.
Jennifer Way-Young, a Delaware County health educator said it's always good to know if the car seat you have has expired, been recalled or been in a crash.
Way-Young said, "If it's been in a crash, it may not survive another crash. Do you want to turn that child that you are putting into that seat into a crash test dummy? Do you want to take that chance? It's just not worth it."
To schedule a seat inspection, contact the Delaware General Health District at 740-368-1700 or at www.delawarehealth.org/safe.htm.
