A 26-year veteran of the Columbus Division of Police will take over the Cincinnati Police Department.
According to Cincinnati officials, Columbus Division Of Police Deputy Chief Jeffrey Blackwell will serve as the next police chief for Cincinnati.
Blackwell has been with the Columbus department for more than two decades and has worked in all the policing subdivisions in the community.
He has held the position of deputy chief since 2009. He has worked as the administrative deputy chief responsible for the business and personnel bureau, training bureau and professional standards bureau.
His current assignment is to oversee the support services areas of the communications bureau, the technical services bureau and the support operations bureau.
Blackwell has had previous interaction with the Cincinnati Police Department as a subject matter expert on police examinations and assessments. He has also done this for Columbus, San Francisco, Miami, and Cleveland.
