The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office will be holding a gun safety class for family members of its deputies.
Sheriff Dave Phalen said that it is the first course of its kind in central Ohio.
The sheriff said that because deputies take their firearms home, it is important to educate their families on safe handling.
The course is open to spouses and adult children of Fairfield County deputies.
It is being held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office minimum security jail, located at 342 West Wheeling Street in Lancaster.
