A man has followed his sister in pleading guilty to a violent jewelry store robbery in May.
Darnell J. Harris, 26, of Canal Winchester, on Monday pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing interstate commerce and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
His sister, Mariah Harris, pleaded guilty on Sept. 3 to obstructing interstate commerce.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Mariah Harris distracted employees at the Heins Jewelers by posing as a customer.
Darnell Harris then entered the store, forced the employees in a back room and tied them up. He also used a gun to beat one of the employees who tried to escape. That employee suffered face and head trauma.
The two fled the store with jewels and cash.
Darnell was arrested at a traffic stop, and Mariah surrendered to authorities.
Darnell Harris faces a possible 27 year prison sentence for the crime. Mariah Harris could get up to 20 years in jail.
