Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault in Baltimore, Ohio.
Police say the assault happened in the area of Main Street and Fairview Avenue between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 16-year-old girl said she was walking home at the time of the alleged assault.
Police are not releasing certain details about the crime, but say the man groped and fondled the girl before running off.
She ran home and told her mother, who called police.
On Thursday, investigators and officials at Liberty Union-Thurston schools were trying to get the word out to parents and students to be aware and stay alert.
"Be aware of who is around you, where you're going, all of the things that normally you would be looking for: don't walk alone, well-lighted areas, travel in groups, always notify somebody when you're leaving someplace and when you get to some place. Always take every step that you can to be safe wherever you go," said Sgt. John Shirk of Baltimore Police.
School officials sent a safety alert home with students advising parents of the incident.
Police have a vague description of the suspect.
They say he is a white man, 19 or 20 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, medium build with short brown hair.
He was wearing a grey t-shirt at the time.
Anyone with information is asked to call Baltimore Police at 740-862-4205.
