Two incidents have been reported in Athens County, and the sheriff’s office is requesting information about both.

The first incident occurred at the AEP sub-station on state Route 691 in Nelsonville between June 2 and June 12.

The thief forced entry into a fenced-in AEP property and stole a large amount of copper ground wire.

Officials said that electricity was lost to parts of the Nelsonville area as a result of the theft.

The second incident occurred on Aug. 5 at the General Store, located at 5321 Washington St. in Albany.

A white male approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximately 160 pound, wearing a black and blue bandana, entered the general store displaying a handgun.

The man took a sum of money from the cashier.

He was seen leaving the scene in a yellow, Cavalier-like vehicle, heading out state Route 681 toward Mineral.

Officials said that as a witness was pursing the vehicle, the front seat passenger fired one round at his vehicle.

Athens County Crime Solvers is offering up to a $2,000 cash reward for information leading to arrests in the two cases.
