Columbus Police say no officers were injured in a shooting on S. 17th Street. Get the story.
Two young children were found home alone Wednesday morning.
A Columbus property manager said he found two children, ages 1 and 4, home alone at a residence in the 1500 block of East Mound Street.
Terrance Cummings, the property manager for Castle Management, said he discovered the sisters in their second-floor apartment while conducting a routine pest control spray.
He said he knocked, but no one answered, so he opened the door to let in the exterminator.
"That's when I saw the 1-year-old running towards me and then I saw a 4-year-old, and I started walking through the apartment not acknowledging them just yelling property management," he said.
Cummings said he closed the door and came outside to call for help when he saw a police cruiser in the alley that he immediately flagged down.
"They stopped right here in the back so I talked to them and they were concerned and they stopped what they were doing and came to help me," he said.
The children were taken into custody by Franklin County Children Services.
The situation remained under investigation.
Officials were working to identify the children.
