Ice cream lovers across central Ohio can get a sweet treat and help fight cancer.

The Cure Starts Now is kicking off the Cones For A Cure campaign to raise money for children's brain cancer research.

The group is teaming up with Graeter's across the state to gather donations.

"Cancer research, in general, is always important to kind of give back to the community.  But our certain type of cancer that we're focusing our research dollars on, is very under-funded by the government, so we rely on private funds," said Jen Gault.

On Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m., customers will get a free scoop of Elena's Blueberry Pie ice cream at Graeter's locations. The flavor was created in honor of a 6-year-old who passed away from cancer.

Donation cards from The Cure Starts Now will be provided. A second free ice cream day will be held later this month.

The goal is to raise $50,000.
